About the Exchange

The Exchange is a two year pilot project bringing together Artists, Creative Small Businesses and Academic Researchers to explore research collaborations and enrich the ecology between the Arts and Creative Sectors and Universities.

The Exchange will work towards establishing a national network through which artists, creatives and researchers can develop mutually beneficial relationships and break down barriers to collaboration.

Seed funding of £5,000 each will be available for 30 collaborative research projects, to allow academics and creatives to work together on a mutually beneficial question or avenue of enquiry.

Our aim is to engage as wide as possible a range of artists from any discipline. It could an individual practitioner, collective or a small creative enterprise. Everyone is welcome to join in! We have no idea as yet what research areas the ECRs will come from, it will be interesting to see who steps forward.

The programme will ideally be suited to professional practitioners who can articulate a need for a researcher to collaborate with. The first round of networking events act as a way of promoting the programme, meeting people who want to explore this territory and discussing best practice.
