'Undercurrent' was a solo exhibition at the Art House, Wakefield.
The exhibition was the resulting showcase 'Akkyduck', a yearlong project, in which we explored the stories past and present of the inland waterways, specifically Stanley Ferry, Wakefield.
?
Through facilitating guided walks, tours and skill sharing workshops we collected stories, followed leads and developed a brand new body of work which toured to Alexandra Palace - London, RDS - Dublin, Harrogate International Centre and The Art House, Wakefield.

This resulting exhibition, titled ‘Undercurrent’ drew upon research and personal experience of the Aire & Calder navigation and its surrounding waterways. The show focussed on the physical and psychological tensions of the waterways that arise from a rich history, re-appropriation after economic decline to a leisure pursuit, and from the constant pressure, flow and strength of the water.
?
The exhibition also featured a publication; highlighting the roots of some of the work in the exhibition, industrial and social histories of Stanley Ferry and will two brand new poems from Phillip Dawson Hammond.
