The title is taken from a song in which a forlorn lover sleeps under the Tree of Forgetting. However when he wakes, he finds he has forgotten to forget.
The sculpture was made in response to a moving description in a letter from my sister of a child's funeral which she attended in Venezuela. The child was laid in a coffin with a rose in its mouth.
