“Boxed Drainage Cover”.
2023This urban intervention was created on the site of an old scrapyard in Cleator Moor,West Cumbria in April 2023. I was cycling past the yard and saw an opportunity to create an illusionary geometric three dimensional image from a flat drainage/manhole cover using locally found small industrial debris strewn across the site. I measured out an outline of a box shape using rulers and then carefully filled in the back panel with the collected debris . I had to be really careful when handling bits of sharp glass and suspected asbestos and a strengthening gale force wind forced me to use heavier bits of detail.
