“Industrial Snowballs”.
2023The temporary installation was created on the site of an old iron ore mine approximately 900 hundred feet above sea level at Croasdale,West Cumbria in March 2023.Due to a thaw in the snow on lower ground,I had to cycle into the hills to find useable snow and headed for the site of an old iron ore mine on common land . I discovered old industrial relics scattered across the site and had an idea of installing snowballs inside an old concrete pipe as if they were spewing outwards from inside the structure. I had to work quick as the intense sunshine was melting the snowballs and dislodging them and had to continually replace snowballs to cover up the mini collapses. As the late afternoon wore on,the thawing process stopped as early frost started to develop ,just in time to photograph the results.
