"Bottleline Horizon ".2017
The temporary installation was created at South Beach in Whitehaven, West Cumbria in March 2017. The artwork was created in response to discovering a pool of plastic bottles washed up on the tideline after a recent storm.Whilst highlighting the perils of environmental degradation, I was simultaneously seduced by the attractive colours of the bottles reminding me of glass experiments I did at College many years ago and enjoyed the playfull manner in how I created the artwork.I had quite a few curious onlookers watching from the harbour wall and hoped they were as shocked as me at the sheer amount of waste that was washed up.
