Stewart Kelly MA, BA (Hons), PGCE, is an award winning, internationally recognised artist based in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Stewart graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fashion & Textiles Design from Liverpool John Moores University (2000), specialising in textile art and design. During his studies, Stewart exhibited and sold fabric designs with Indigo Salon at Premiere Vision in Paris. His clients included; Donna KaranRalph LaurenLauren VidalSahco Hesslein and Ralph Lauren Home Collection.

Following this, Stewart received an Arts & Humanities Research Council postgraduate award to study for an MA in Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University (2002), specialising in fine art textiles. Since completing his studies, Stewart has established a profile as an international artist, showing his work in exhibitions across the United Kingdom, Europe, USA, Canada and China.

Throughout his career, Stewart has received several awards including, a Silver Medal at the 13th International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Artwith Scythia, Ukraine (2020), an Award for Excellence at From Lausanne to Beijing, 11th Fiber Art Biennale, China (2020), and an Award for Excellence at the State of Health: Illness, Recovery & Art, with Fiber Art Now, USA (2020).

Stewart’s work has featured in several international publications including Textile View (2002), Surface Design Journal (2018), Fiber Art Now (2020), Textile Fibre Forum (2020), and Embroidery Magazine (2023). In addition, he has published online interviews with TextileArtist.org (2015, 2020), Mr X Stitch(2016), Textile Curator (2016, 2021), ArteMorbida (2019) and Explore Fiber (2020).

Stewart is a member of AxiswebBankley Studios + Gallery, the European Textile Network and the Surface Design Association.
