There is a studied genericism that restages ubiquitous materials and forms from architecture and public spaces to essential functional qualities. This reductive language provides clarity to examine these quasi-objects, objects constructed from repeated set of cast concrete tiles that economically create a façade and a perfunctory shell. Here function is prioritized over design, the possibility of mass production is preferable to the singular crafted ornament and form has undergone multiple Health and Safety checks. BRUT is a modest modular component system that suggests formal management, the histories of architecture and a somewhat British melancholic tone of order. With Forge's work it appears that Modernist ideas and aspirations are filtered through the Postmodern age and arrive in the here and now of every British town." Anarch, London
