Simon Taylor
I am a visual artist and creative photographer exploring themes of nature, place, and environment through sketching, printmaking, and both still and moving image. My practice is rooted in observation and immersion, often developed in collaboration with community-based environmental and wellbeing groups. Through these encounters, I create reflective works that invite a deeper, more attentive connection with the natural world.
My current project, Breathe, sits within the broader framework of Working with Nature. This body of work explores moments of stillness and presence through short films and audio recordings, offering quiet, immersive experiences that foreground sensory awareness and embodied connection to landscape.
Alongside my artistic practice, I maintain a portfolio career spanning education and the creative industries. I work with Bath Spa University to develop opportunities across the Schools of Art, Film & Media, and Design, supporting emerging creatives in bridging the transition from education to professional practice. I also work as a freelance photographer, arts marketing consultant, curator, and creative workshop facilitator.
Based in Bath, I am an associate member of 44AD Artspace and a resident at The Studio, Bath Spa University. I hold an MA in Visual Communication from Bath Spa University.
