I have been working mostly as a painter and muralist inside the two-dimensionality of the surface but my practice has developed towards a more sculptural one as my pictorial concerns began to be related with what was in the surrounding space transforming my ‘paintings’ into ‘installations’. That awareness happened in 2013 whilst working on my project Conversation with the Building, made during my residency at the Prairie Center of the Arts in US, I realised that I was awakened to the the relationship of the place and the experience I was feeling. Exactly the same happened a year later in London with my project Mind the Gap: I spent so much time on the platforms of the London Underground at the beginning, year after, and thanks to a sudden commission of two abstract papers with garden as a theme, I developed my series Inspired by an English garden. It was very different to Mind the Gap, nevertheless still holding firmly to the style I had developed since coming to the city. The contrast from the underground (Mind the gap) to the overground (English garden) was so vivid - vibrancy of colours, richness of combinations.

    Artist Statement

I like to play with the material via painting and I have lately been inspired by encounters with objects I have randomly found to create shapes and compositions via assemblies that reflect situations or places from my current life. This juxtaposition of different materials also offers a blend of textures that lends perspective through impressions of shadows, folds and creases.
I am having access now to peculiar spaces in a lower basement, surrounded by enormous chillers and boilers and electrical devices- due to my work as Engineer Coordinator and I believe this is having a visual impact on me and consequently inspiring my current project ‘Engineering’.
