Artist Statement

Through my work I am interested in addressing the physical space that surrounds us. That space which is consistently present, which accommodates our lives and routines, filling the gaps between our bodies, and separating us from the stuff of the world. I am interested in man-made attempts to bring definition to this presence, to contain it, keep it out, order and explain it. By working directly with materials in different spaces I aim to make sculptures that acknowledge the conditions of the space which houses them, whilst at the same time attempting to exert their own independence. I am interested in using line because of its ability to describe form without embodying it, and its relationship to drawing, mapping and geometry.
