These paintings, Emblems of Hope, explore feelings of melancholy and loss, the existential threat of human annihilation and most of all, the triumphant, certainty of the endless power of nature to return. 
They are dark fictional composite landscapes, that have a nocturnal, and sometimes unsettling atmosphere, built up or layered from elements, either invented or observed separately in different places.
