    Biography

Working primarily with acrylic, oils and photography, I am currently interested in urban environments and landscapes, which fail to meet our needs and reflect an inner geography of loss, dislocation and disorder.

Glimpses of disturbing realities slip in and out of our reading of the work alluding to the confusion of our lives. One minute we feel we have attained some certainty of who we are or where we are going, the next that certainty has gone and we are left floundering and spiritually empty again.
Desolate hotel rooms, tables in empty corridors, set for assignations which never come to fruition, and the empty promises of a longed for connection which never happens, are the issues I seek to explore in my work.

Concrete tower blocks, inhospitable alleyways and paths set our defences on edge at readiness for attack in the urban concrete jungle.

No sense of a community enjoyed by previous generations, only a bleak and lonely world where hope is thin and tenuous there is little to offer the individual but a felt sense of absence, vulnerability and isolation.
