Rosie Farrell creates oblique narratives in her video, sound and performance works. Combining wry humor and at times obscure melancholia with components of contemporary culture, like choreography, sci-fi movies and music to examine mysteries, logic, and slippages in translation. Her works navigate the enigmatic and possibly magical properties of off-kilter and everyday phenomena, playing with illusion, trickery, ritual and repetition to create surreal apparitions that comment on current anxieties of technological progress and suspended states.
Farrell works across video, sound, performance, and other media. She recently graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design (2012) with a Masters in Fine Art and has participated in We Can Elude Control at Bold Tendencies (2012), Switch/Over at Wimbledon Space (2012), Ideal Home at Chelsea Space (2011), and Gone with the Wind at Raven Row (2011).
