Artist Statement

I am currently involved in making interventions and asking questions that are temporary, momentary or short lived rather than making permanent objects. I engage in places and am interested in how an environment influences me and how the opportunities to make work and interact with a particular place extend into the unexpected and improvisational. My work often moves towards the ambiguous in its meaning through multiple decisions and ideas explored before something is finalised. I have been making drawings that start as one thing perhaps a collage of words cut out from an ongoing text piece, which then becomes a kind of palimpsest for the drawing, taking the form of an exploration of space. I have also recently made fly post interventions in Tashkent which then are recorded, and the processes of time in erasing their physicality and memory fades. My work often comes from personal experiences, trying to find answers, responding to life events that lead to a reflection on many levels and open up new understandings of language and the creation of meaning in ourselves and in communication with the world.
