I am an artist working with sound in digital, visual art, and performance contexts. Now practising as a freelance artist, I was formerly director of Aune Head Arts and Artistic Co-Director of half/angel and now manage my own freelance business as an artist and consultant.
Like most artists I've had a professional life with many different incarnations, sometimes as a full-time educator and others as a full-time artist, but I've also worked as a producer and manager, as a fundraiser, and have sat on a variety of Boards. This has been particularly true since 2006 when I became the primary fundraiser and developer for Aune Head Arts based in southwest England. I stopped doing that at the end of 2012 in order to focus on reconnecting with and developing my creative work.
I'm most accurately described as an installation artist although I've worked extensively in performance contexts as well (particularly dance). All my work involves sound, and my current work focuses a lot on designing and developing embedded technologies for objects and buildings. I use sound to bring things and places to life, or to invent new lives for them. I am also attempting to develop my writing skills and blog as often as I can when I feel like I have something to say. It's usually about the world around me and the beautiful place where I live which is near the Atlantic Ocean on the southwest tip of England.
