Ideas dictate the method and medium of production.

Richard Higlett works across a range of media while more recently has been involving elements of performance and sound, presenting as part of Soundworks, ICA London in June 2012. In 2011, he created a Sound Car that can be used as a portable gallery for sound art and featured in a number of projects in 2012. Recent exhibitions include Unseen: Experimentica at Chapter, while he was the first Artist in Residence for the Glynn Vivian Gallery Swansea in the autumn of 2012 Over 2012, he has increasingly become involved in curating, combining his focus on sound by producing 'The Witching Hour 'for Cardiff Contemporary in October 2012 and was the first exhibition exclusively looking at visual artists from Wales working with sound. The project is being developed as a touring project in 2013. 'The Witching Hour' opened at Goat Major Projects, a project space he co-founded in Canton, Cardiff which has presented 8 projects in 2012. In 2014, he presented Free Mountain for Cardiff Contemporary and initaited the Open Studios Weekend across Cardiff. 2014 was also a period of research and person development support by a Creative Wales Award. Looking at the role of artist/curator and ideas about creative practices being embedded into the everyday expereince. In March, 2015 he presented new works along side old for the Interference Programme at Chapter, Cardiff. Le Degre feature a new drawing style informed by the research period and involved the creation of bespoke typefaces. The gallery for the show was only available in the South Wales Edition of The Big Issue encouraging a dialogue on exchange outside the context of the gallery. He has exhibited in New York, Montreal, Bruno and Venice and various galleries and artist-led spacing in the UK.

In 2017, I am looking back as key ideas that have yet to surface, the few piece that have stayed at the back of my mind that resurface periodically before they are push aside for the demands of current works and deadlines. First manifestion of these idea at Arcade Cardiff 03/17 as After & Before.
