Rebecca Edelmann

bristol
Danish self-taught ceramicist who had her first ceramic exhibition at 12. Finds inspiration in the ridiculous and the funny. Lives Bristol with the poet Joel Scarfe and their two daughters.

Rebecca is fascinated with Catholic saints, and with the objects used in their ceremonies. It is something that, as an atheist she feels excluded from understanding, but which she cannot but help return to, especially at a time in history where faiths see themselves as being under threat, and try react accordingly to.

Rebecca started working with clay as a young teenager, and it is one which continues to fascinate her simply by having such possibility for variation. She is planning bigger constructions, and continuously experiments with new clays, and ways of making.
