Rachel Gretton Glass is a creative business established in 2004 and is currently based in Hartlepool in the North-East of England. Rachel works as a freelance artist producing kiln cast glass sculptures for both personal commissions, exhibitions and also working as a residential artist within the community on larger site specific commissions. Rachel's work is created through a range of intricate mould making, kiln casting and polishing techniques to create delicate yet powerful pieces. Rachel views her work as an "emotional journey" and endeavours to define an aspect of "self -presence" in her work, an ambitious challenge but one that distinguishes her from purely decorative kiln glass artists. She may use text as decoration to both disguise and articulate her glass forms, but it also enables her work to speak to us of issues beyond the purely aesthetic. "I use the intricate casting techniques to capture, control, reveal and expose the concept of communication, language and discourse throughout the work."
