    Biography

I work in photography and I have a background in painting and printmaking. My work in the studio is done on a large-format film camera and involves the scrutiny and arrangement of common objects. Some of the objects are found and some are purchased. I often find what I am looking for in pound shops or charity outlets. The materials which I am interested in representing, are of low status, yet I try to reveal their visual importance or some overlooked optical glory. In the composition and lighting, there are acknowledgements to painting, especially the still-life tradition of the seventeenth century, but the type of object represented is wholly different and is thoroughly contemporary.
