Concepts Composition is important. Related flat areas of colour are made to look solid without the use of illusionist modelling; pattern sometimes assisting in describing form. People, objects and patterns are arranged on the picture surface within the particularised space. All elements are intended to harmonise exactly; the colour and shapes in their own place, enhancing one another.
