Artist Statement

I stick tape to things. I like its immediacy. I also like the geometry of London and take photographs on a daily basis. An instant black line of gaffer tape becomes scaffolding, a suggestion of a stairwell, a balcony. I pare the image down and rebuild, removing and re-sticking at random.

My working materials have become more industrial. Clear perspex allows me to create multiple layers, the wall behind a further surface in which to apply paint or tape. I’ve begun exploring 3-D, using the perspex as a different layer again. Cardboard structures in front of taped perspex become flattened images in photographs–a resource for future work. Therein, the process starts again. The images and resulting structures becoming more disjointed along the way.
