I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Manchester, primarily working in installation and performance, constantly asking questions; who are we? In plunging audiences into immersive and emotionally stimulating environments, I set a scene; creating whole living room installations asking ‘What does it mean to be British?’ through films and books. The power of an artist is incredible, and I’ve always marvelled at how creatives have created whole worlds, evoking intense emotion in their audiences. Through performance and installation, I open up dialogue about identity, culture and class; asking for reflection and in result sparking social change. I’m currently working on an experimentation of materials (concrete, wind, audio) questioning my own emotional responses and how I can make sense of my place in the world.

Biography

In addition, I run an artist collective and events team called Get It Done, bringing creative and cultural events to the city. Stretching the concept of an ‘exhibition’, we revolutionise and relax the gallery space to a wider, more accessible community. We get creative with the idea of space and our struggle to find it, having held events in basements, skate parks to a performance piece called ‘The Hunt For Gallery Space’. We aim to make the arts accessible to wider audiences, encouraging creativity and working with underserved communities sparking social change. Our popular DIY events also serve to give platforms to young Manchester creatives, creating collectives and networks between them.
