Biography

'Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it we are nothing.' Luis Bunuel, filmmaker My practice is concerned with the fragmentary nature of memory and identity. The work is informed by an interrogation of the physical world through drawing, painting, photographing/filming and through collecting 'detritus', resonant objects from landscape and urban environments. Found materials alluding to the past, a common past, my own past are reassembled, eroded, combined into 'recovered' memories which trace the process of change and encode new meanings. At the core is a conceptual exploration inspired by Louise Bourgeois, Joseph Cornell, Susan Hiller.
