¿ikon? is comprised of text extracts from four disparate languages - Arabic, Chinese, Italian and Russian - randomly collected from international media sources and manipulated, via an automated process, to form a hyper-real abstract expanse of contrasting red and green. Rorschachesque in nature, ¿ikon? seeks to evoke an emotive response from that (in reference to its text source material) which is inherently factual and dispassionate. ¿ikon? endeavours to question the individuals perception of information in today's data-overloaded existence, reflecting upon the dualistic nature of media as both mundane detritus and fundamental 'building block' of contemporary society.
