Biography

I am an artist, illustrator and educator from the UK. My work has exhibited across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Mall Galleries in London. My work has also been published by Gestalten, The Guardian, The Independent, FT and Creative Review.

In my practice I use drawing, collage, photography and video to examine processes for constructing, framing and manipulating visual messages, as well as themes of presence/ absence and sense/ nonsense. I attempt to bring together the oddly discomforting, the fanciful, the virtual and the cartoon-like, the abstract and the frame, the playful and the orderly.

Originally from the UK, I spent ten years in Bangalore, India where I held a faculty position at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology. I have also been an associate lecturer on the postgraduate Fine Art Digital course at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.

I hold a BA in Design: Illustration from Plymouth University and an MA in Visual Arts: Digital Arts from Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, for which I received an Arts & Humanities Research Council award.

My research interests include: Blogging and reflective practice, drawing as process, philosophy of digital media, visual-tactile communication, visual storytelling, editorial illustration, semiotics, rhetoric of framing, and visual culture.
