'Light purpose' painting has been a breakthrough in the development of my work.

I'm familiar and more comfortable with small 12 a 12in canvasses and find larger paintings more challenging. In regard to the application of paint I aim to have intention of energy and expressiveness with all size canvas so using larger scale means adapting tools and means of keeping the painting true and not contrived. It has been a time of transition working bigger in the past few years and it seems to come down to being intentional and not being fearful.

I work as a formalist painter, focussing on surface qualities, form and colour and allowing the painting to dictate. When I let go enough I believe every painting's narrative embodies my true identity, values and spirituality. By working intuitively it's incorporated in the form, something quite magical can happen, which cannot be put into words.
