Biography

My work swings from the highly ornate and historical, to pared down and contemporary. Often using scrap and recycled stone from buildings and skips, or cutting up old carvings that haven’t worked.

My chief focus is the depiction of food and all things related. Often carving subjects  in stone alien to its natural colour, distorting or simplifying lines and texture. Or going to the other extreme by carving every fold of flesh and dimple. I execute foodstuffs unapologetically small, literally putting them on pedestals, elevating their status and displaying them like jewels.
