King’s Lynn Pilgrimage Trail, a permanent public art commission for the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, celebrated King’s Lynn’s medieval religious sites, together with Lynn Museum’s important collection of medieval pilgrim badges. Five designs were created, which referenced medieval details from key religious buildings in King’s Lynn. The designs were photo etched onto 22 brushed stainless steel plaques located throughout the town. In order to reflect the marketing function of medieval pilgrim badges, the designs also appeared on button badges, stickers and recycled paper bags. These continue to be given away free of charge at numerous outlets throughout King’s Lynn.
