Artist Statement

From a very young age I’ve always felt a need to create things. This need to create led me through a GCSE in Design and Technology, an A Level in Product Design, and then onto an MDes Degree in Product Design. Though I put a lot of energy into design as part of my education, I was still creating outside of schooling, making costumes and designing and making my own clothing.

Whilst working hard on my final year project, I experimented with resin as a form of stress relief, and found I very much enjoyed it. I discovered techniques which I found very satisfying and pretty, and began turning my pieces into jewellery and accessories. I also put my graphic design training to work by then creating a logo and a name, turning my hobby into a business. There were things I tried which I didn’t like, and things I tried which I loved, so I took my favourite effects forward and developed different products. I then took to the admin side, formatting a website and discovering which products were successful and which were not.

Art to me is something that excite the eyes or triggers a thought or feeling. This means that anything can be art, so long as the artist deems it so. My pieces don’t necessarily have a meaning, and I feel that the meaning is as important for the beholder to discover, as this inspires creativity. I find inspiring creativity to be one of my biggest life motivations, and it really warms me to see others go out and create, no matter their background.
