Shouting Off (Meat for a Week)
2011Ways of Hearing was an action research project run by Sound and Music and MAAP involving professionals from a range of backgrounds. Artists, architects, academics, engineers, sound recordists, urban planners and scientists came together over a three-month period to research specific areas of interest relating to sound in the urban environment.
My research project centred on the voice in trade and exchange in city spaces. I was, and still am, interested in how the voice is used in the contemporary city as a tool for selling. The outcome of the project was a presentation to the other participants and a number of edited binaural field recordings. My research is ongoing.
