I can see the world through the stars (Glasgow)2004
Constructed from strips of a tourist map of the city, the small origami stars Lucy makes appear to contain something intangible.
Moving around, inviting people to tell her a story about the city, the artist folds the star as the visitor speaks, capturing their story inside. When the story and the star are completed, the visitor is presented with it, and a choice: either keep the star intact, holding forever within it the story they have told, or open it up and return to the stable terrain of the map.
Performed at Glasgow Art Fair (2004), Berlin ArtForum (2006), Project Space Leeds (2007) and Parasol Unit, London (2013).
