Noble Bloods
2014A multimedia installation in response to Frances Darlington's World War One memorial to boys from St. George's Police Orphanage in Harrogate, now held by Ripon Prison and Police Museum. A polychromatic relief, the memorial presents St. George and St. Joan of Arc as the main focus; Noble Bloods responds to these historic, social and aesthetic ideals through installation, film and painting.
Louise published her biography of Frances Darlington (1880-1940) in 2013 and continued to practise as an artist alongside the research. This commission produced with Arts Council funding fuses these areas of her practice.
