Pencil drawing with ink on paper. Part of a continuing body of work that tracks a familiar landscape, focussing on the lie of the land, it’s timelessness and the tracks made in it by humans over the centuries. The drawings are rooted in maps, stripped back to essentials, reduced to contours. The walks are represented by a single red ink line, each marking a distinctive shape. It is the artist’s own daily experience of this landscape that informs the work, exploring ideas of territory and homing instinct.
