    Artist Statement

    Overview:

    Lisa Traxler combines painting and 3D form within her practice exploring associations with construction, assemblage and components. Her abstract work traverses the two and three dimensional divide and links the disciplines of painting and sculpture.
    Her studio is a converted RAF war-time bunker on the Isle of Wight’s south coast.
    Born in London, Traxler studied at Croydon Art College and Birmingham Polytechnic
    graduating with a BA Hons Degree in Fashion and Textiles.
    She is an elected member of The London Group, the Royal British Society of Sculptors and the Royal Waterclour Society.

    Studied: Croydon Art College and Birmingham Polytechnic. BA Hons Fashion & Textiles. Former fashion editor (IPC Publications, London) and costume designer. Member: The London Group (elected 2022), Royal Society of Sculptors (elected 2017), Royal Watercolour Society (elected 2015).

    Awards: Finalist Aesthetica Art Prize (2023),a-n Bursary (2021),  Arts Council England Project Grant Award (2021), Southampton City Art Gallery Open Exhibition Winner, (2020), Jeff Lowe Sculpture Award, London Group (2019), Boarhunt 4th Plinth Sculpture Award, Hampshire (2019)  Adrian Henri Award (2017), ProArte Award (2014), Colart Award (2012) Golden Award (2010) for paintings at the NAPA National Exhibitions, The Crypt Gallery, St. Ives. Shortlisted & published in Aesthetica Creative Art Award Annual (2012). Exterior vitreous enamelled steel mural  and sculptures featured on house built with architectural designer, Lincoln Miles, national television (Grand Designs, Channel 4, 2010/12) recipient of the Architect’s Journal Small Build Award, London (2011) by the architect Will Alsop. Collaboration with furniture designer, Steuart Padwick, hand painted enamelled steel folding table that hangs as wall art, featured at London Design Festival (2016). ‘Dazzle’ designed exterior cladding and staircase featured in Sunday Times Home (September, 2017) & METRO newspaper (2019) alongside a vitreous enamelled steel interior work surface.

    Lisa Traxler MRSS, RWS, combines painting & 3D form within her practice exploring associations with construction, assemblage and components. Her studio is a converted RAF wartime craft hut on the site of a decommissioned radar bunker on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. Born in London, Traxler studied at Croydon Art College and Birmingham Polytechnic graduating with BA Hons Degree in Fashion and Textiles. She is an elected Member of The London Group (2022), the Royal Society of Sculptors (2015), and the Royal Watercolour Society (2017).
