The Big Draw: Drawing from Collections13th October 2016
Location: firstsite, Lewis Gardens, High Street, Colchester, CO1 1JH
At firstsite in Colchester I will be leading a four week drawing course on consecutive Thursday evenings: 13th, 20th, 27th October and 3rd Nov., 7 - 9pm.
This 'Big Draw' event will be inspired by objects selected by curators from Colchester Museums Service, and explore a range of drawing materials and techniques.
Session 1: 13th Oct. (at firstsite) A still life of Bone working with compressed charcoal and chalk to develop tone and light in osteological objects.
Session 2: 20th Oct. (at firstsite) Natural history specimens such as taxidermy and study skins, exploring a range of pen and ink techniques.
Session 3: 27th Oct. (at Colchester Natural History Museum) Inspired by the new display of wet/fluid specimens in glass, explore reflections and light, working with pencil and/or biro.
Session 4: 3rd Nov. (at firstsite) An archaeological still life, building up texture and tone using colour pencils.
