    Biography

As an artist I use myself a lot.  I have an interest in the commonality of our existence, our common environment and resonance through a common understanding.  Self-portraiture is a recurrent theme; one which I use to explore that which we share: those familiar aspects of humanity and human existence that connect us all.

Perhaps informed by my scientific background, I have an interest in how individual marks, arranged together can be perceived as something else, something emotive.  I am interested in how these functional processes, representation, recognition and perception, can awaken a sense of emotion already inherent in the viewer, an intimacy of sorts, or fellow feeling.
