Katryns work is a celebration of the ‘Perfectly Imperfect' and illumination of the overlooked'

Katryn Saqui’s work is about reconsidering the overlooked, the appreciation of the flawed and imperfect and the refusal of hegemonic systems.  Her influences are broad, from Joseph Beuys concepts of social sculpture, the Situationist Movement, Romanticism to public interventions, relational aesthetics and Ernst Bloch’s Utopian ideal where humanity engages with nature to create a wishful landscape to work towards social and ecological progress.

This body of work involves a range of art forms from temporary intervention to sound sculpture and eventworks, through which Katryn illuminates and reconfigures defunct objects and aspects of what it is to be human.

“I wish to validate, recover, retrieve, save and rescue, to regain status through this identification process. Itcould be an object, a declining industry an overlooked culture or an individual”.
