Ideas of my work tend to congregate around capturing a moment, the feeling within that moment, and magnifying its temporal and emotional elements to then allow for a deeper contemplation and penetration of the inevitable associations of that captured moment.
My points of reference are usually photographic, either my own or sourced material which lends itself to my own personal interpretation and development -either adding or omitting to create their own contexts.
Although the general subject matter of my work differs from one body of work to another, the approach is always governed by my take on a nostalgic concept and how I translate this onto canvas.
I work exclusively with oils, occasionally on board but predominantly on canvas.
The process is always organic and I never completely know how a finished piece will look, but rather, let the piece itself announce its completion.
I aim to contribute something uniquely beautiful and am always striving to find the next piece, to extend my artistic vocabulary and to discover new territory within my own painting journey.
