Artist Statement

Masterton work explores the relationship between photographic imagery and sculptural form. She constructs small sculptures and collages from found images and objects to create photographic tableaus. The space of a photograph becomes Masterton’s curatorial frame for a series of events, objects and images as individual exhibitions. Masterton’s sculptural practice uses what she calls lines in sight, that disrupts vision in the photograph. Used as a tool for optical focus, often appearing in the image and outside the image.
