Three Ways School in Bath is an exceptional school for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND offering a focus on creative partnerships and creative learning. In a development of the willow nest spheres project with KS1 and KS2 I worked with staff and pupils in KS3 and KS4 to design and make a large, walk in, functional sculpture for the upper school playground.

Three classes took part in workshops to develop individual 2d designs into 3d models and then one was chosen to be scaled up. The final design was inspired by the school's resident therapeutic dog Jax, a rather gorgeous, patient and loving Labrador!

Both the spheres and big dog projects were funded by a local engineering company, employees of which also took part in site preparation (some serious ground clearing) and working alongside the pupils to weave the willow onto the large structures.
