Working as an Artist, Photogtapher and Facilitator I am concerned with the role art has across a broad range of communities and contexts and I have an invested interest in local creative and community based development.
My work explores the feeling and energy behind experiences. Using photography to consider our relationship with memory, through the small fragmented moments that make up our lives. Creating carefully captured and staged moments showing the essence of something, suggesting a feeling or a notion that once was. Taking pieces from the catalogue of thought that is our memory, and illustrating these feelings within the imagery.
Often using medium format analogue photography, there is considered pace to the way in which my work is made. Using the naturally slower nature of this medium, focusing on quiet moments and natural light. Some of my recent work has included portraits and images largely of my family and our surroundings; this work has been created considering the changing meaning of our relationships.
