Location: High Legh Primary School, Cheshire.

This workshop is designed for Year 5 and above. The workshop involves looking at giant allium flowers and other spherical objects which are made up of repeated forms. The children are encouraged to collect 2 litre plastic milk bottles for this project. Working on groups they cut these into petal forms and attach them together using cable ties to form flowers. These individual elements are connected together until they make a giant sphere. Fairy lights are added to animate the form.
The aim is to encourage children to look more closely at nature to recognise patterns and understand how forms are built. Children will develop skills for drawing, cutting, connecting and building.
