Biography

Found imagery is the basis of my artistic practice. I work with the content of about one hundred years of photographic history combined with contemporary stories, thinking and techniques. My work depicts the many hidden and untold stories that normally would have remained forgotten in the ever-growing archive of the millions of pictures that are being taken and produced every day. As a result of my many walks I want to tell the stories of the forgotten and, often, anonymous photographers that are brought back to life by these treasures, as the social and historic records they are. My biggest collection and main research is within family pictures and with a special interest in glass negatives from the beginning of the 20th century, I experiment with these fragile objects in different variations and forms. Through printed work, sculptures, video and interactive installations I am trying to understand those who once where in the pictures and the story they tell us. The themes of my work surround and reflect on the closely related subjects of archive and memory, by questioning the realm of reminiscence with the help of my collected photographic materials.
