JWW Turner's designed Sandycombe Lodge in Twickenham will reopen this week after a Lottery funded conservation. As a 'guide' for visitors round the house for several years, its been great to learn about his life, work and career.

He built this house at the beginning of the 19th century as a country cottage retreat from his busy life in central London. It was the first house at the edge of a field, now in the street opposite where I live.
The photo shows his bedroom and the new frontdoor.
