Using a serendipitous and mischievous approach to making work i am inspired by the objects and happenings of life. Finding objects/events which intrigue or ignite creative process and exploring their artistic potential. This often begins with withdrawing them from their everyday and exploring them in a new context. In my curatorial practise, which i consider to be intertwined with my artistic practise
Using a serendipitous and mischievous approach to making work i am inspired by the objects and happenings of life. Finding objects/events which intrigue or ignite creative process and exploring their artistic potential. This often begins with withdrawing them from their everyday and exploring them in a new context. In my curatorial practise, which i consider to be intertwined with my artistic practise i explore concepts of context, presentation and belief systems. Often withholding or misleading information to explore the viewers approach to assumption, often encouraging me to twist and misconstrue the obvious. In 2011/2012 i briefly conducted a curatorial exploration with a micro gallery called GreySpaceGalleries which explored the thoughts and works created which inspired further work. The areas inbetween points A-B. Although no longer functioning the gallery allowed for a freedom in both my artistic and curatorial practises and a willingness to engage with ideas often overlooked by myself or others in order to reach a pinpointed outcome. Having moved back to Lincolnshire in 2012 i have continued making work and have recently partaken in a project with 20-21 gallery in Scunthorpe i want to capitalise on the momentum this project has created and find new opportunities to further my and others creative practice.
