My work is fed by a focused anger and dissatisfaction resulting from social and political inequality within Western culture. A culture immersed in consumerism, perfection, power, success and status. Society has fractured, why has it and what is the impact on the individual, the community, society as a whole? My work is a process of socially engaged practice, research, observation, writing, exploring materiality and immateriality, semiotics, still and moving images, sound, voice and music. The final art piece is not restricted to one medium, the process informs how the final piece is presented and is often a juxtaposition of seemingly disparate audio and visualisation. My art allows me to respond to these issues and share those responses with the intent of asking awkward questions and opening dialogue.
