I am a multi-disciplinary artist, member of the 2019 Black Hole Club cohort in Birmingham and recent artist in residence at Coventry Artspace and Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art, Bear & Ragged Staff residency. I work across media within post-digital and socially engaged approaches. I combine digital and analogue media, including photography, moving image, spoken word and music, to construct sculptural, installation and 2D works that explore and question the layers of meaning, information and misinformation in media communications that program societal values and attitudes towards, status, material possessions, and identity. I am particularly interested in how such communication is often used to reinforce public perceptions of ‘the haves and the have nots’ and denigrates minority groups.  My practice is inspired by social and political issues within Western culture, primarily focused on the digital and built environment, identity, behaviour and commonisms. Much of my work explores causality from mass control, neo-liberalism, capitalism and consumerism.

    Artist Statement

I am a multi-disciplinary artist, member of the 2019 Black Hole Club cohort in Birmingham and recent artist in residence at Coventry Artspace and Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art, Bear & Ragged Staff residency. Much of my work explores causality from mass control, neo-liberalism, capitalism and consumerism.

I graduated in 2018 from Warwickshire College with a First in BA (Hons) Fine Art & Contemporary Cultures.  Prior to studying for my degree I have worked in administration, nursing and housing. I founded a grass roots tenants’ action group in May 2018, co-founded an artist peer to peer collaborative in 2017 and this year I have facilitated a monthly artist networking event in Leamington Spa. I have recently co-founded ‘Spam and Chips’ with artist Adam Neal and under this nom de plume we aim to create and deliver participatory workshops that facilitate dialogue about issues facing early career artists.  We are also working on a collaborative project which comments on ‘traditional’ working class culture. I am constantly observing both the intangible and the tangible to try and understand what is happening in-between and around, constantly peeling back the layers, never satisfied with what is on the surface.
