    Biography

In pursuit of an inner preoccupation I explore and respond to place instinctively, noticing and gathering organic or mundane objects and discarded materials on the way – leaf, branch, pallet wood, postcard or used teabag. A form of note taking to capture a moment or mark an experience

These gathered objects and materials are combined by hand with low-tech methods to become drawings and impermanent balanced assemblages

With balance, chance and play significant aspects of my practice I re use objects and materials frequently - drawings are overdrawn or layered and works disassembled and re configured to make new ones

And as mass manufacture brings abundance of choice and encourages over consumption I seek solace in the found, reclaimed and repurposed, endeavouring to share the beauty I find there

    background
A former jeweller I set aside designing and making in 2008 to explore the motivations behind my craft practice and gained my MA Fine Art in 2012. Alongside my craft practice I taught visual arts subjects and professional development in adult, further and higher education, worked as a freelance consultant and as a subject specialist until 2016.
