My work has continued to be a morphing of real location and imagined worlds. The drawings and paintings I make, take imagery and inspiration from collected maps, visited landscapes, aerial views and anatomies of trees and bodies. Manipulating paper maps and reducing cartographic elements, the landscapes I map back, offer new and contorted views, creating a sense of place that is distorted and unfamiliar. References to both the man-made and organic are also made through depictions of pulsating roads and growths of cities that mimic organisms on macroscopic and microscopic levels. Re-visiting memories of places and merging map with nature, the resonance of places lived and visited continues to inform my current work.
