Artist Statement

Glass reflects atmospheres and emotions. I feel, Making glass is a way of accessing a world increasingly excluded from our everyday life. The landscape is very important to me; the light, the textures and natural forms found in our surroundings. I always try to capture, or at least to identify something from the environment that expresses an essence of its natural beauty to my own senses. I don't feel bound to a certain technique; I will use one or mix techniques that I believe suit best the particular expression I want to achieve. In my architectural glass I like the way I can bring it to life, give it movement, texture and manipulating the material in different techniques such as kiln cast and direct cast. I use the glassblowing technique to achieve my sculptural and organically/ growing forms. Forms bend and twist organically as in nature. The objects are not necessarily descriptive picture of nature, but through the elastic, tactile abstraction it relates and represents. I try to recreate the beauty of the completely unspoiled with the pattern and forms of the natural world through molten glass infused with movement. The movement symbolises an energy which happens when working with molten glass. Want my objects to communicate with my audience.
